Tyler Hoffman
Tyler is from Glen Gardner, New Jersey. He graduated in 2016 from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering. There, his research at the New Jersey Center for Biomaterials under Dr. Yong Mao and Dr. Joachim Kohn focused on bone and cartilage regeneration using synthetic biomaterials, extracellular matrices, and stem cells. He also served as a Peer Instructor in the Aresty Research Center, which helps connect undergraduates with faculty mentors and research projects. For the following two years, he worked at Osiris Therapeutics in Columbia, Maryland developing and characterizing new placental-based products used clinically for wound healing and regenerative medicine. Outside of the lab, he enjoys playing sports and hiking. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Bioengineering at UCLA and is very interested in designing functional biomaterials for influencing cell behavior and tissue engineering at the Khademhosseini Lab.
