The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) awarded Mahesh K. Vidula, an MIT biological engineering undergraduate student, the 2008 Undergraduate Student Design and Research Award for the project, “A Pump-less Microfluidic Chip to Detect Cardiac Toxicity”; BMES also awarded Dr. Yanan Du and Prof. Khademhosseini the Outstanding Paper award. Their paper, “Method of bottom up directed assembly of cell-laden microgels”, will be published in the new BMES journal “Cellular and Molecular Bioengineering”.
