Kirsten Fetah

Kirsten Fetah is a second-year PhD student in the department of bioengineering at UCLA. She graduated from UC Berkeley in May of 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in bioengineering. During her undergraduate studies, she pursued a concentration in cell and tissue engineering. Her previous research awards include the Student Mentor and Research Teams Fellowship, awarded by the UC Berkeley Graduate Division, which funded her undergraduate research endeavors. She has previously worked in the lab of Professor Sanjay Kumar, using synthetic biology tools to quantitatively study mechanobiology. During her time at UC Berkeley, she also completed a senior capstone design project, where she designed an improved phantom device to be used by researchers conducting MRI scans of patients with Multiple Sclerosis at UC San Francisco. In addition to her passion for science and engineering, Kirsten enjoys playing guitar and piano, singing, and playing tennis at UCLA’s Sunset Canyon Recreation Center. Kirsten joined the Khademhosseini Lab in 2018 and is excited to be a part of a highly dynamic and interdisciplinary team. Her research interests include biomaterials and miniaturized bioreactors for applications in tissue engineering and personalized medicine.
