Matthew Ryan Singer

Matthew was born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles. He received his BSc from UCLA in 2013 in PsychoBiology and then combined his passion for neuroscience and performing as professional magician from the Magic Castle in Hollywood to create NeuroMagik™, a show blending basic Neuroscience and Physics teachings, presented through the lens of the performing arts. Additionally, he founded Medical Friends at UCLA, a pre-medical mentorship and consulting organization as well as Lighthouse Cures, LLC: a company devoted to holistic brain health and education. With extensive experiences in neuroscience, business, and art, Matthew comes to the Khademhosseini lab as a Master’s student at UCLA in the field of NeuroEngineering. A futurist at heart, he aims to develop and translate the next frontier of neuroscience technologies, eventually hoping to link new inventions to space exploration. Although he is not a traditional scientist, Matthew is proud to bring a dynamic energy and unique perspectives to the team, with the ability to visualize new concepts and think outside the box. He is interested in organ-on-a-chip systems related to the central nervous system and brain, 3D printing and bioprinting, microfluidics, and sensor systems that can wirelessly transmit signals to consumer devices and wearables.
