George Aninwene II
Dr. George E. Aninwene II, PhD is a Biomedical Engineer with expertise in 3D printing and Cell culture. He is skilled in research, teaching, mentorship and adaptive problem solving. He has been successful in teaching, team building, and development of innovative research techniques.
Dr. Aninwene completed the majority of his PhD research at Brown University and finished his dissertation at Northeastern University (NEU) after his advisors shift to NEU. During his time at Brown Dr. Aninwene also completed the PRIME (Program in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship) master’s program. This program gave him insight into the importance of ensuring that his research areas would address global needs.
During his time at Brown, Dr. Aninwene was a GK-12 fellow. As a GK-12 fellow his responsibilities included regularly preparing and administering scientific lessons for elementary school children. This program helped to show him the importance of researchers sharing their science and giving back to the community to foster the growth of the next generation of young scientists.
In August 2018 Dr. Aninwene joined Prof. Khademhosseini’s research lab at UCLA. His work will focus on using 3D bioprinting to create complex microtissues with functioning vascular and nerve networks.
Dr. Aninwene possesses a hunger for learning, a desire for entrepreneurship, and passion for 3D Bioprinting. By combining his passions with his background in Biomedical engineering Dr. Aninwene plans to create and manage world class research teams that will revolutionize the field of tissue engineering.
