Junmin Lee
Junmin received his BSc and MSc in Materials Science and Engineering from Yonsei University in South Korea. During the Master degree, his research focused on the development of chemical sensors. He then accomplished his PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research area during this period was the application of biological materials with various biophysical and chemical cues including stiffness, matrix protein, geometric feature to different types of cells varying from mesenchymal stem cells to cancer cells. He found that not only robust matrix protein patterning on hydrogel substrates is successfully obtained for the capture of single or multiple cells, but also combining geometric cues with defined substrate stiffness and matrix ligands can tune cytoskeletal tension and modulate the degree of cell fate decision. He joined the Khademhosseini lab in June 2017 as a postdoctoral fellow. He has been seeking to apply his experience and training in fabrication of biomaterials and cellular bioengineering to a new and exciting field in the Khademhosseini lab.
